Tom Brown serves as the Director of the Forsyth County Department of Planning & Community Development, leading a team of 34 professionals dedicated to delivering quality service in one of Georgia’s fastest-growing communities. Tom began his career with Forsyth County in 1998. Prior to joining the county, he worked in economic development with the Empire State Development Corporation in Buffalo, New York, and also gained private-sector experience with an HVAC contractor in Syracuse.
He holds a Master of Urban Planning from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Urban Studies from Canisius College. A member of the American Institute of Certified Planners since 2000, Tom is committed implementing Forsyth County’s vision for future growth and development.
A resident of Forsyth County, Tom and his family appreciate all that the county has to offer. His children attend Forsyth County Schools, and he firmly believes Forsyth County is the best place in Georgia to raise a family. On weekends, you’ll often find him exploring North Georgia’s mountain bike trails.
