As Superintendent of Schools for the award‐winning Cherokee County School District since February 2016, Dr. Brian V. Hightower takes great pride in leading its 42,000 students and 5000 employees in “Educating the Emerging Generation.” Most recently, Dr. Hightower was appointed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to his Superintendents Advisory Council, selected to serve on Cognia's GA Superintendent Advisory Board and honored for the sixth straight year to the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Who’s Who” in Education. He was also honored in 2022 by the Georgia School Superintendent’s Association with the President’s Award for his service to children.
Also, for the 2022‐23 school year, Dr. Hightower will continue to serve on the State Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Dr. Hightower will also serve as the Board Chair for the North Georgia RESA, immediate past Chair of the Georgia Education Coalition and as a National Research Fellow with the Educational Research and Design Institute, Finally, he remains as a charter member of Leadership Circle, a national coalition of Superintendents dedicated to growing educational leaders and addressing some of the most important issues facing public education today.
