Misti Martin is a native of Cherokee County and serves as President & CEO of the Cherokee Office of Economic Development.
Early in her career, Martin worked for the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce & Development Authority and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia. She was President & CEO of the Covington-Newton County Chamber east of Atlanta before assuming her current role in 2004.
Martin’s experience includes public-private partnerships for real estate development as well as strategic initiatives. She has worked on multimillion-dollar corporate locations including brands such as Michelin, Pactiv, thyssenkrupp, Papa Johns, and Yanmar. Martin and her team, with support of Cherokee By Choice, Inc., have founded the Be Pro Be Proud Georgia Initiative as well as the North Atlanta Venture Mentoring Service (NAV), MIT’s first sister-program in Georgia.
Misti is a past-chair of Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA) and is the 2020 recipient of the “Rip Wiley Award for Professional Excellence,” recognizing her major contributions to economic development in Georgia. Martin is a former co-chair of the Atlanta Regional Marketing Alliance and was selected as one of the “Top 50 Economic Developers in North America.” She has also been featured as one of Georgia Trend’s “40 Under 40” and as a “Notable Georgian.”
Martin is a proud Georgia Bulldog and is married with three sons.
