Join the Council for Quality Growth's Cherokee County Advisory Roundtable on May 9th at 11:45 AM in-person at the Cherokee Office of Economic Development.
Brantley Day
Director, Community Development Agency
Cherokee County
Since July 2021, Brantley Day has served as the Community Development Agency Director with Cherokee County, Georgia. The Community Development Agency is comprised of departments providing services that include capital roadway/SPLOST project delivery, transportation engineering, stormwater engineering, public works, planning & zoning, building inspections, development services, and permitting/licensing. Brantley’s career in local government spans almost 25 years, previously with the cities of Woodstock, Holly Springs, and Riverdale, as well as the Cumberland Community Improvement District in Cobb County. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, both from the University of Georgia. He credentialed by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) of the American Planning Association, member of the Georgia Planning Association, and a 2013 graduate of the Regional Leadership Institute (RLI). He recently served on the National Association of Counties (NACo) Housing Task Force, which included 33 elected and appointed county officials from 18 states.
Councilmember Shawn Tolan

City of Canton
Shawn Tolan is currently serving his second term as a member of Canton's City Council (Ward 2). His primary focus is all things related to housing. He has a particular interest in Affordable/Attainable housing and works with the city to add additional affordable/attainable housing.
Shawn hails from Columbia, SC. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Shari for over 40 years. They have a son, a daughter and 3 grandsons, all of whom live in Cherokee County.
Jimmy Payne

Jimmy Payne is a top-producing real estate broker with Coldwell Banker Realty and is the current VP of Government Services for the Cherokee Association of REALTORS. Jimmy started his real estate career in 2007 and became a broker in 2012. In 2018 Jimmy served as the President of the Cherokee Association of Realtors and has represented the association at the local and state level for over 12 years. Jimmy has been a resident of Cherokee County for almost 20 years and lives in Holly Springs with his wife and 2 daughters.
Kendall Jones

Kendall Jones, Community Liaison for MUST Ministries in Cherokee County, has been with MUST Ministries since May of 2010, having served previously as Summer Lunch Coordinator for Cherokee Co., Client Intake/Volunteer Coordinator and Program Director. Prior to his employment with MUST, Mr. Jones served as a high school/middle school band director and as a church music director. Mr. Jones has lived in Cherokee Co. for 37 years and is a member of Canton First Methodist Church. He currently serves as a Cherokee FOCUS board member, Homeless Coalition of Cherokee Co. board member, EFSP Local Board member, Ga. Initiative for Community Housing Canton Housing Team member, Treatment Accountability Court Steering Committee member and a Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce board member. He is also past chairman of the Canton Housing Authority Board of Directors. In 2021 Mr. Jones was chosen by the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce as Volunteer of the Year and in 2023 was honored to be selected as the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce First Citizen. He is married to Carol Jones and has two married sons and five grandchildren,
