City of Atlanta
City Planning Commissioner Jahnee Prince is a dedicated public servant offering 25 years of experience in city planning at the national and county level. Commissioner Prince joined Mayor Andre Dickens’ cabinet in September 2022, prioritizing affordable housing, streamlined city services, environmental preservation, and plans and policies that promote safe, economically vibrant, walkable neighborhoods. Under her leadership, the City has seen many wins including: leading the 5-year administrative update to the Comprehensive Development Plan; launching a simpler, shorter permitting process; acceptance of Atlanta’s LGBTQ+ Historic Context Statement by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs’ Historic Preservation Division; nurturing partnerships with community groups and stakeholders in the redevelopment of the former Chattahoochee Brick Company site; and adopting best practices for the Neighborhood Planning Unit system.
Prior to joining the Dickens’ administration, Commissioner Prince spent eight years as a national city planning consultant and served as Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Sustainability at DeKalb County. She brings a varied background in land use planning and zoning, transportation planning, economic development, and government affairs work to the City of Atlanta. Commissioner Prince will leverage these proficiencies to drive Mayor Dickens’ vision for “inclusive, innovative and equitable city planning and ensure “Atlanta is a city designed and planned for the future.”
Commissioner Prince has a master’s degree in city and regional planning from Ohio State University. She enjoys live music, college football, and Atlanta United soccer games. Commissioner Prince is an Atlanta resident since 1994 and currently resides in the Eastlake neighborhood with her fiancé and animal menagerie.
