Marci Collier Overstreet
Councilmember, District 11
Atlanta City Council
Marci Collier Overstreet proudly serves as a member of the Atlanta City Council representing the citizens of District 11. A Southwest Atlanta native, Marci has deep roots in the community and truly understands the needs of those she serves. She spent her youth soaking in the culture and diversity of the area which inspired her from a young age. Marci is a product of the Atlanta public school system, having graduated from Benjamin E. Mays High School in 1983. Growing up, she saw the good, the bad, and most importantly, what could be.
It was the potential to bring out the best in the people and make the world around her a better place that put her on the path of leadership and advocacy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Georgia State University, minoring in Management. This allowed her to develop her voice and cultivate her own unique leadership style. Armed with education and determination, she took on many roles including author, entrepreneur, host, and business professional.
While she spent years in the corporate arena, Marci’s passion has always been people. This passion is reflected in her community service. She has been directly involved in local projects and Parent Teacher Student Associations (PTSA) working to spur positive change for citizens young and old. Now, Marci brings her volunteer spirit, leadership, and dedication to the City Council. She is focused on investing in the future by integrating modern ideas with respect for what came before to build toward a new era of growth that honors the rich history of Southwest Atlanta.
As she strives to foster strong relationships with the constituents of District 11, Councilmember Overstreet listens to and understands the needs of the people. Her constituents want a safe place for families, children, and the elderly. They want clear and sustainable economic development and improved opportunities for all. Marci is on a mission to make positive changes in all of these arenas by investing in technology, developing innovative public safety programs, and offering full transparency as a trusted community advocate.
Marci is deeply appreciative of the opportunity to serve and she is proud of her accomplishments, but she is far from done and always focused on creating a new and better tomorrow.
