About the Atlanta Urban Development Corporation
The Atlanta Urban Development Corporation is a specialized non-profit entity capable of leading the redevelopment of public land into marketable, mixed income housing that is attractive and attainable to tenants of all income levels. The AUDC is tasked with incentivizing the development of mixed-income communities that include affordable housing units and utilizing a unique toolkit of financing mechanisms to accelerate project developments. The AUDC will actively partner with mission-driven developers and stakeholders to create an inclusive neighborhood where residents can thrive. Read more.
Why Does the Atlanta Urban Development Corporation Exist?
In pursuit of building and preserving 20,000 units of affordable housing by 2030, the City of Atlanta has enhanced these efforts in collaboration with the Atlanta Housing Authority to establish the Atlanta Urban Development Corporation (AUDC). Working from a close partnership between Atlanta Housing, Invest Atlanta, the City, and other public partners, the AUDC will increase the collective capacity of public land development and complement the housing development efforts of those agencies participating in the Housing Strike Force.

John Majors serves as the principal of the Oughtness Group where he leads the development, investment, and consulting activities of the firm. Over his career, John has participated in the development of over $2B in real estate transactions.
Previously, John served as a Senior Vice President at Brinshore Development where he led transformational mixed-income housing development throughout the Southeast. Before Brinshore, John was Vice President at Purpose Built Communities where he implemented holistic community revitalizations within communities around the nation. John also served as Executive Vice President of The Dawson Company, a mixed-use commercial development firm.
Currently, John serves on the board of Drew Charter School, Fearless Dialogues, a non-profit organization that facilitates conversations among community members, and his alma mater, The Aquinas Institute in Rochester, NY.
John received his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science from Morehouse College. Additionally, John holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Master of Religion in Public Life (MRPL) from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
