Daniel Cummings serves as the City of Marietta’s Assistant City Manager for Economic and Project Development, a position he has held since July 2022. In this capacity, he is responsible for developing and implementing city-wide strategic initiatives and for leading the City’s economic development efforts that include business recruitment, expansion and retention, strategic planning, and redevelopment. Before assuming his current role, Daniel served as both Marietta’s Economic Development Manager and Planning and Development Specialist beginning in 2015.

Prior to joining the City, Daniel spent several years working for the Middle Georgia Regional Commission.  There, he provided comprehensive services to Middle Georgia’s local governments in the areas of economic development, community development, planning and personnel administration, and served as Project Manager for the Central Georgia Joint Development Authority, leading its real estate acquisition efforts. Daniel holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs. He lives in Marietta with his wife, Christina, and daughters, Lucy and Grace.
