Ollie Clemons
Mayor
City of Austell

Mayor Ollie Clemons is a strong advocate for hard work and community service. The retired United States Postal Service Senior Sales Executive is no neophyte to either. After working three jobs to save for college, he attended Georgia State University. Ollie first served as a mail carrier, then in Human Resources, and finally Sales, earning 33 years of awards, acknowledgements, and promotions.

Mayor Clemons is extremely active in his church. He served as Head Elder, President of the 501(c)3 non-profit board for the Berean Outreach Ministry Center and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Berean Village; a senior retirement community. He has also been appointed to Chairman of The Lay Advisory Council of the South Atlantic Conference of Seventh Day Adventist.

After being made aware of his Homeowner Association’s overwhelming debt, Ollie was elected as President of the HOA Board, and over the next seven years, he made necessary adjustments to successfully prevent and eliminate over $60k of financial obligation.

In 2013, Mayor Clemons was elected [the first African American] Councilman of At Large Post 1. He has also served on the Variance Board, the Austell Community Collaborative (ACC), Austell Community Improvement Commission, as Vice President of the Planning and Zoning Board, and Mayor Pro tem.
The proud husband of 26 years, father of five, and grandfather of six has been an endorser for the Austell Youth Innovation Center -a collaborative effort between the city, county, educators, and the faith-based community. He was an advocate for the Austell Elementary Sports track, and a Champion for the outdoor renovation of the City-Owned Historic Threadmill Facility. The new City of Austell website has also been an important task for the Mayor. Making improvements, while honoring the integrity of the original version of both the facility and the website symbolizes a vital shift of Austell into the future.

“Be a positive voice, a supporter. Be a volunteer. Do your part to help enrich the quality of life in Austell. Let’s grow better together.”
- Mayor Ollie Clemons.
