DeKalb County District 4 Commissioner Chakira Johnson, earned her degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and became a licensed engineer in 2006. She now holds licenses in three states, including Georgia. She has amassed over 20 years of experience in both the private sector and local government. She has a rich history of community involvement, having served on the Stone Mountain city council for 16 years, including 12 years as mayor pro tem for the city of Stone Mountain. Currently serving as a city engineer, Commissioner Johnson is eager to leverage her extensive skills and expertise in civil engineering to serve the citizens of DeKalb County. She encourages interested individuals to get involved in STEM programs that will allow them to discover and explore the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.
