Commissioner Massiah made history as the first black female to serve as the DeKalb County District 3 Commissioner. She was elected in December 2024 and recognizes the honor that the people of District 3 have bestowed upon her as their Commissioner. During her first 30 days as Commissioner, she was selected by her colleagues to become the 2025 Deputy Presiding Officer for the Board of Commissioners and appointed to serve as the Committee Chair of Planning, Economic Development & Community Services (PECS).
Commissioner Massiah is also an attorney and real estate broker deeply committed to serving the vibrant community of DeKalb County. With a rich background in legal matters and real estate, she brings zealous advocacy, effective negotiation skills, and selflessness to champion the rights and interests of others. As the principal attorney at Massiah Law & Associates and the qualifying broker at Massiah Real Estate Group, she has successfully represented clients with challenging legal matters and helped clients achieve their real estate housing needs.
Beyond any professional achievements, she is a civil servant and leader for social justice, volunteering her time to advocate for impactful legislation and initiatives. She is proudly associated with organizations like the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, DeKalb Pro-Bono, Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, and a long term member of The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church, where the dynamic leader and Senior Pastor is Dr. William Flippin, Sr. She is also a graduate of the 2020 Class of Leadership DeKalb.
Commissioner Massiah has a servant heart and is willing to do what it takes to ensure that the constituents of District 3 are served with the highest level of service. She is committed to getting the job done and working for the people daily.
She is a forward-thinking leader with strong problem-solving skills, the ability to adapt and make sound decisions based on data and facts. She has the necessary leadership qualities to elevate and expand District 3 with a community-based approach and solid vision for progress.
She is blessed to have 3 beautiful children: Terry, Justin and Kennedy.
