Beverly Burks, proudly serving as the Mayor of Clarkston, Georgia, the most diverse city per mile, since November 30, 2020. Known as the "International Mayor," she made history as the first woman and person of color elected to this esteemed position in Clarkston.
Mayor Burks is a distinguished graduate of Alabama State University, holding a B.S. Degree in Computer Information Systems. With over 17 years of experience, she has excelled in various roles, from Fortune 100 business consultant to technical manager. Her dedication extends to community service, as she has served as the Executive Director of the National Pan-Hellenic Council and as the Director of Community Engagement at the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority, which owns the Grady Health System. Presently, she lends her expertise to National Church Residences as the Regional Director of Philanthropy and Public Affairs.
Beverly is not only a Breast Cancer survivor but also a passionate Health Advocate and entrepreneur with Neema Skincare, LLC, a beauty brand catering to specialized skincare needs.
Mayor Burks is an active member of several influential organizations, including the African American Mayors Association (AAMA), Climate Mayors, Mayors Alliance to End Childhood Hunger, and Black Mayors’ Coalition on Crime. She collaborates closely with the Georgia State University Prevention Research Center as a community advisory member, addressing health challenges in Clarkston. Additionally, she serves as a DeKalb County Board of Health Board Member, making a significant impact on public health. Her commitment extends to the Atlanta Regional Commission’s 2024 Local Leadership Housing Action Committee.
Ms. Burks is the visionary founder of the North Fulton DeKalb Small Business Network and is associated with esteemed organizations such as the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Leadership DeKalb. Her remarkable achievements have earned her recognition as one of the Top 100 Black Women of Influence in Metro Atlanta by the Atlanta Business League in 2021, 2022, and 2023. She was also honored with The Citizen Experience Leader Award by Turnkey Solution and a Leadership Award from 100 Black Women of Decatur-DeKalb.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Beverly is a devoted mother to her daughter, Kimberly.
