Joseph P. Stein is a retired Major General of the United States Air Force and a resident of Forsyth County, Georgia. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. Following a distinguished military career, Stein served as Board Director and President/CEO of Baer Air, Inc., where he oversaw financial management and operations.
In February 2025, Stein was elected by a caucus of the Georgia General Assembly to represent Georgia’s 7th Congressional District on the Georgia Department of Transportation’s State Transportation Board. His term runs until April 1, 2029, completing the term of his predecessor. In addition to his board service, he recently concluded a four-year tenure as Secretary and Treasurer of the Development Authority of Forsyth County. On the transportation board, he supports the department’s mission to enhance mobility, safety and sustainability across the state highway system.
