Join the Council for Quality Growth's Gwinnett County Advisory Roundtable at 8:00 AM in-person at Andersen, Tate & Carr in Duluth to hear from Mayor Mike Mason, City of Peachtree Corners.
A resident of the Peachtree Corners community since 1985, Mike Mason was elected its first Mayor in March 2012 after leading the successful Peachtree Corners Yes! campaign to establish the City.
Prior to retirement, Mason served as Chief Financial Officer for a variety of firms over his career.
Mason co-founded the United Peachtree Corners Civic Association in 1993 and served as president of the organization many times through the years, helping address land use and community issues prior to the area?s incorporation July 1, 2012.
He served on the Local School Advisory Committees at Berkeley Lake Elementary School, Simpson Elementary School, Pinckneyville Middle School and Norcross High School. Mason was Cub Master and Den Leader for Cub Scout Pack 525. He also served as Assistant Coach for Norcross Recreation League football and coached youth t-ball, soccer, and basketball teams in the Peachtree Corners community for several years. Mason also founded the Fox Hill Homeowners? Association and was elected its first president, authoring its by-laws, and is still active in his neighborhood.
He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Evansville, and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern Indiana, as well as successfully passing the CPA exam.
Mason volunteered for the U.S. Navy in 1970 where he served as a Hospital Corpsman. He was honorably discharged in 1974 with the rank of HM2.
He is the Vice Chairman of the Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale Board of Health. He is also a member of the Board of the Atlanta Regional Commission, as well as serving as the Chairman of the Transportation and Air Quality Committee. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Gwinnett Municipal Association. He is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Gwinnett.
A native of McIntyre, Georgia, Mason and his wife, Debbie, moved in 1985 to Peachtree Corners, where they raised their two sons.
