 Daunté Gibbs has more than 20 collective years of experience gained from the federal government, private sector, and local governments that has earned him commendations as an expert in Comprehensive Land Use Planning and Zoning. His commitment to excellence embodies best management practices that build community and client trust. Fiscal responsibility infused with communication, integrity, excellence, teamwork, mutual respect, and the highest ethical standards have been an integral part of Daunte’s career and successes. Daunté currently serves as the Community Development Director for the City of Locust Grove, GA. He has served as the Planning & Economic Cluster Director and Planning & Zoning Director for Henry County, GA. Daunté served as a part-time adjunct professor of Environmental Science for Grand Canyon University Online for 10 years and leads in several volunteer roles with local schools, local Homeowners Association, and the Henry County Board of Education Advisory Councils to the Superintendent and Special Education Parent Advisory Committee. Daunté has managed multi-million-dollar departmental budgets, directed Planning & Zoning Departments, GIS Departments, Community Development Departments, Code Enforcement, and Building & Plan Review Departments. Daunté has authored numerous ordinance amendments, to include the Henry County Highway Corridor Overlay District, and the Henry County/Cities Joint Comprehensive Land Use Plan 2040. Daunte’ is a 2016 U.S. Water Alliance Water Summit delegate in Atlanta, GA, a Level II certified development plan reviewer, and Level 1B certified development site inspector.
Daunte’ is a native of Huntsville, AL where he attended and graduated from J.O. Johnson High School in 1998. He was a NASA SHARP student, a member of the national honor society, and the recipient of the United States Army scholar athlete award. He graduated from Alabama A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science in May 2002, where he was the first USDA-NRCS 1890 Soil Science Scholar and Scholarship recipient. While attending Alabama A&M University, Daunte’ was initiated into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. through the Nu Epsilon Chapter in 2001. After graduating Alabama A&M University in 2002, Daunté attended the University of Georgia and graduated with his Master of Science in Environmental Health in May 2004. Daunté was the recipient of a graduate research assistantship under the USDA National Alliance for Food Safety Project: Role of Nematodes in Pre-harvest Contamination of Fruits and Vegetables with Pathogenic Bacteria while attending UGA. In August 2012, Daunté graduated from Liberty University Online with his Master of Arts in Theological Studies. Daunte’ has been published four times, including a national soil survey, a thesis, a peer-reviewed science journal article in the National Journal for Applied and Environmental Microbiology, and a devotional cookbook.
Daunté currently resides with his wife and two children in Locust Grove, GA where he enjoys quality time with his family, working out, and cooking.
