John Paulson is the mayor pro tempore for the City of Sandy Springs.

John Paulson is a registered professional engineer who has lived in Sandy Springs for more than 25 years. He was instrumental in supporting the City’s bid for incorporation as part of the Committee for Sandy Springs. He served on the RFP committee which supervised the bid process for the City’s general government services, ultimately saving the City nearly $7 million dollars a year when compared to the original contracts.

Mr. Paulson currently serves as President of Dison Contracting and Supply, a consulting firm specializing in geosynthetics and reinforced soil structure design and construction. He has had an active career in geosynthetics and the geotextiles fields, working for Exxon Chemical, Nicolon, and working as an engineering consultant within the civil engineering community worldwide.

His volunteerism includes service with the American Legion Post 140, and as past president of the Northridge Community Association and as a board member of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association.

The Chicago native earned his degree in engineering from the University of Illinois, Chicago. Councilman Paulson is a Vietnam veteran and served as a U.S. Marine rifleman. He and his wife Mary have two children.
