Mark Farmer is the Division Director of Economic Development for the City of Milton, Georgia. Before arriving at Milton in January 2026, he was a Deputy Director with the Gwinnett County Economic Development Division, where he focused on redevelopment and entrepreneurship support.
Prior to joining the county team in January 2017, he was for nine years the Director of Entrepreneurship & Information Services for Partnership Gwinnett, a public-private economic development initiative of the Gwinnett Chamber.
Farmer came to Partnership Gwinnett with 20 years of business experience, including several as an entrepreneur with Words & Pictures, his writing and photography business.
His early career included public relations positions in academia and transit, paralegal positions with a technology company and a top Atlanta law firm, as well as editing roles with two city newspapers.
Farmer holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in economic development policy from Georgia Tech.
