Planning and Zoning Director
Cherokee County
Since 2021, Margaret Stallings has served as the Director of Planning and Zoning for Cherokee County. She previously served as the county’s Planning Manager and Principal Planner since 2005. In these roles, she has been responsible for a wide range of planning initiatives, zoning processes, intergovernmental coordination, code compliance and Cherokee County’s Impact Fee Program.
She holds a Master of City and Regional Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology as well as a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University. She is credentialed as a certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners of the American Planning Association as well as a Registered Architect in the State of Georgia. She and her family reside in Forsyth County.
