Latonia P. Hines works daily to protect the lives of the most vulnerable. She has been a servant leader and a prosecutor for over 20 years. She has served as a prosecutor in the Cobb County Solicitor’s Office and Cobb District Attorney’s Office. Currently, she serves as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Crime Strategies and Community Partnership Unit of the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office and part-time prosecutor for the City of Marietta. In 2022, she was elected in a special election to serve as Councilmember for Ward 2 of Smyrna City Council. She was subsequently re-elected in 2024 for a full term. She currently serves on the Budget Committee, Committee on Appeals / Public Safety Committee (Chair), Committee on Short-term Rentals, Black History Month Planning Committee (Chair), Committee to Honor Fanny Williams and Smyrna Circulator Task Force (Co-chair).
She is the Vice President of the Cobb Municipal Association, President of the Smyrna Optimist Club, a Silver Life member of the Cobb NAACP and sits on the Boards of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences-Southeast Chapter and The Strand Theater.
She is a proud Florida Gator, having received both her bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida. Latonia appears as a regular legal analyst and expert for local and national television networks like CNN, Law&Crime, and CourtTV. She received an Emmy as a member of the Emmy winning “Legal Dream Team” coverage of the Justin Ross Harris Trial for NBC-11 Alive.
