Erica Rocker is an economic development professional for the Clayton County Georgia Board of Commissioners. In her role as Economic Development Officer, She is charged with overseeing all of the economic development activities of the department including managing staff, business recruitment, retention, expansion efforts, partnership engagement, project management and relationship management for Clayton County, Georgia “Where the World Lands, and Opportunities Take Off”. As an experienced community builder, With over 25 years in municipal government experience, Erica works daily with the public and private sector to bring congruence between county government and the local business community and maximize partnerships with state agencies that promote economic development. A qualified and proud advocate for subjects on Economic Development, Erica now serves on the Atlanta Regional Marketing Alliance, is a member of the Arts Clayton Board of Directors, the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA), International Economic Development Council (IEDC), ATL Airport Chamber Board of Directors, Emory University Alumni Association, and the Atlanta Chapter of Turner Classic Movies Enthusiasts. Rocker was recently appointed to the Economic Development Leadership Council for the metro Atlanta region by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
In March 2023, She is honored to have been appointed personally by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to the Stone Mountain Memorial Association Board of Directors – The first African American woman EVER in history to be appointed to this Board since its inception in 1958.
Her passion in helping small businesses and reshaping communities makes Erica a frequently called upon speaker and thought leader to community organizations on economic development matters.
Erica holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University with a major in Psychology/minor in English. She is a graduate of the Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute and the Georgia Academy of Economic Development. In her spare time, Erica enjoys writing , skiing and touring historic cemeteries.
According to Erica, she is an eternal optimist and finds balance in this quote, by Lebanese philosopher Kahlil Gibran (1883–1931). “The optimist sees the rose and not its thorns; the pessimist stares at the thorns, oblivious of the rose.”
